The MOPC is planning the execution of two big tenders that concern the area of influence of the Eastern and Western Regions of Paraguay.
The tender with significant progress is related to the work to be carried out in the Department of Alto Paraná through the International Public Tender for contracting construction companies within the framework of the contract for the construction and maintenance of highways. by service levels (CCOMA), section: Route PY07 (Superhighway Junction) – Puerto India, subject to the approval of the CAF Loan Law of US$ 100 Million.
This work consists of the construction of two sections distributed in two lots. An advance payment of 20% of the amount of the contract is expected.
Subcontracting of companies is allowed after prior approval of the Contracting Party.
The works are comprised by the final engineering design, construction and maintenance of the asphalt paving of Route PY 21 in the section Route PY 07 Superhighway Junction Section with Puerto Indio, currently unpaved sections. Soil movement works, construction of the structural package, bridges, sewers and other complementary works must be carried out.
The execution term is 95 months in total for each lot according to the following schedule: an initial term of 5 months for the elaboration of the executive design, then construction works must take place during 30 months and the maintenance stage will be developed in 60 months.
Deadline for inquiries is Thursday, March 31, and the delivery date for offers is scheduled for Monday, April 18, 2022 at the MOPC headquarters.
The second work, which consists on the construction of the bi-oceanic road corridor, National Route PY15, about 227 kilometers of section 3 in the sector located at Mariscal Estigarribia-Pozo Hondo and the access to Mariscal Estigarribia with funding by FONPLATA for an amount that exceeds 354 million dollars is in the planning stage.
It is worth mentioning that this corridor will make Paraguay the logistics heart of the region, shortening distances and lowering freight and transfer costs between ports with coastlines on the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
Recently, the lower Chamber of the Congress has approved both bills for the financing of these road works and now they pass to the Executive Branch for official promulgation.
