The Board of Directors of the National Competition Commission (CONACOM) has reached a decision, through Resolution D/AL No. 11/2022 issued on February 14 of the current year, to authorize the economic concentration operation consisting on the acquisition of the White Cement Business of CEMEX ESPAÑA OPERACIONES S.L.U. by CIMSA CEMENTOS ESPAÑA S.A.U. (part of the Sabanci Group).
Carla Sosa Martinez, Partner, Leyla Apud, Victoria Ugarte and Alvaro Rojas, Associates, advised CIMSA CEMENTOS ESPAÑA S.A.U. in the process of notification to CONACOM about the concentration operation, consisting on the acquisition of assets of CEMEX ESPAÑA S.L.U., which operates in the White Cement Market. CIMSA is one of the leading companies in White Cement, which also produces and distributes gray cement, calcium aluminate cement and concrete mix for a number of markets. Although neither of the Transaction Parties has a direct presence in Paraguay, CEMEX is the main supplier of White Cement to the Paraguayan market.
The aforementioned process was notified and approved in several jurisdictions around the world, including: Spain, Israel, North Cyprus, Cyprus.
